About us
Savills rural team operate at the forefront of dynamic and forward thinking land management. From a UK network of over 30 offices, from Inverness in the North to Truro in the South-West, our surveyors and rural professionals offer a range of advice to clients including traditional estate management, the preparation of farms and estates for sale, forestry management and investment, as well as consultancy services such as valuation or acting in the delivery of infrastructure projects.
Our wider services cover; architecture, building consultancy, rural planning, food and farming, renewable energy, energy brokerage, mapping and strategic projects, and we offer graduates a wide range of experience across the rural sector.
Rural graduates will develop their skills through meeting different clients, visiting sites, being involved on lots of different projects and within the office, listening and learning through others in the team. Graduates will also be given a mentor who will help guide them throughout the two-year scheme and make sure that graduates are fully prepared for their APC.
The rural scheme is aimed towards graduates becoming qualified technical chartered surveyors. Rural surveyors need to be genuine experts in the field, with particular experience of rural estate and environmental management, consultancy and planning, rental and lease review, auctioneering and valuation. Food and farming graduates will develop their consultancy skills and industry knowledge through meeting an array of clients, visiting sites, involving themselves in a variety of projects and listening and learning to others within the office and networking with other teams. Graduates will also be given a mentor who will help guide them throughout the two-year scheme and make sure that graduates are fully prepared to step into the world of food and farming consultancy.
The Savills food and farming pathway is aimed towards training graduates to become genuine experts in their field. A Savills consultant will have particular experience in farm business management, financial reporting and budgeting, rural grants and subsidies, rural planning and environmental management.
Forestry graduates will develop skills through being involved with a variety projects, meeting different clients, visiting sites, and within the office by listening and learning through others in the team. Foresters need to be genuine experts in the field and graduates will learn all about the different sectors.
The forestry sector requires forestry managers with a diverse set of skills. Drawing upon our experience and contacts within the forestry sector, our forestry experts can provide independent advice on any aspect of commercial forestry and woodland management – either in relation to a commercial forestry portfolio or smaller scale farm and estate woodlands.
Graduate trainees are usually required to have completed relevant forestry degree courses allowing progression towards professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters to commence immediately on starting work. At Savills, however, we are prepared to consider outstanding graduates from other subject areas and welcome interest from such applicants.

Training & Career Development
Our training and development programme is highly regarded as one of the best in the property industry, and is geared towards enabling our graduates to reach their full potential. As a graduate, you'll also have regular opportunities to attend technical, business skills and personal development activities - including conferences, courses, lectures, networking, mock assessments, revision sessions and social events - which compliment both your practical experience and meet the theoretical requirements of your APC.
You will have an APC supervisor and counsellor who support and guide you throughout the two year training programme. They will discuss your training and experience needs at regular progress reviews, ensuring you receive the support you require.
Once you've successfully passed your APC and become a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), you'll continue to receive training and career development opportunities. We ensure that your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is current and that all staff are fully up-to-date with changes to legislation and business needs.
